Why do I want to become a teacher?
The main reason I became interested in this field is that my little sister has Down Syndrome. I have watched her grow up and helped her along the way seeing the difficulties she has grown up with. She is a delightful girl who loves everything about school and life in general. She brings joy to my life daily, and I would love to be able to work with children to give them a reason to love school and love life. This last semester I was able to do an internship at my local elementary school working with both special education kids and general education kids. I absolutly loved working with the kids everyday. I got to see a lot of the ins and outs of the job including the paperwork, meetings, teaching my own lesson, and I am still excited to get going! My supervising teachers were great and gave me tons of good advice. The kids are so welcoming and enjoyed working with me. They were sad to see me leave at the end of the semester and even made me cards! So my little 'dip' into teaching was a great experience for me and I can't wait to have a classroom of my own!
